Holi is a Hindu festival that is also known as the “Festival of Colours.” It celebrates the victory of good over evil. Hindus celebrate the arrival of spring and other festivals by playing holi, which involves tossing colours at each other and dancing joyfully.
Do you know story behind Holi?
Hiranyakashyap, a demon king, received a boon from Lord Vishnu that nothing can kill him, not a man or an animal, at any time of day or night, inside or outside, above or on the ground.
As a result, Hiranyakashyap instructed everyone to worship him rather than God. Prahlad, however, was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. This enraged his father, who tried a variety of methods to assassinate his son.
Even asked Prahlad to jump from a mountain or into a well, and he tried poisoning him, but nothing could harm him.
Finally, Hiranyakashyap’s sister Hollka convinced Prahlad to sit with her on a fire. She was shielded by a shawl, which prevented her from getting burned. Still, Prahalad was unharmed, while Holika perished in the fire.
At dusk on his porch steps, Lord Vishnu emerged as a half-man, half-lion and killed Hiranyakashyap.
What is Holika?
Every year, a Holika bonfire is lighted to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. The day after the bonfire, Holi is celebrated.
I haven’t seen such quality work in a long time. Great job!
Thank you so much for your appreciative words 🙂
